With the accelerating process of urbanization in China, a largenumber of peasant workers transfer into the cities, who tend to take theirfamily to the city. However, the education of children of migrant workershas become an increasing concern in society. Non-formal education has acertain historical development in Shanghai, and it has got a certainamount of theoretical and practical experience, thus there is someadvantages in Shanghai to carry out non-formal education to improve thepre-school education of peasant workers’ children. In this study, thepre-school status of the peasant workers’ children in Shanghai X streetwas studied. The theoretical support of the research was collected bydiscussion on a large number of documents, and the data was obtained bydesign and distribute questionnaires and participant observation methods.After analysis of the data, the adaption to the city, the satisfaction ofliving in Shanghai, as well as economic conditions, and their children topre-school situation after the peasant workers went to the city were all known. Combined with the education-related policies and measures ofShanghai government on the children of migrant workers, the feasibilityof non-formal pre-school education in the community was discussed, andthe relevant recommendations of non-formal pre-school education in thecommunity were put forward.This article is divided into five parts, the first one is Introduction, thesecond one is analysis on the pre-school education of children of peasantworkers in X street, Shanghai, the third one is the limiting factor of thepre-school education of peasant workers’ children, the fourth issustainable development of countermeasures of non-formal pre-schooleducation of peasant workers’ children in community, the last one part issummary and problems need further discussion, that is the conclusions ofthis study and issues still need to explore.
