As the country pay high attention to the vocational education and give great impetusto it, secondary vocational schools, which cultivate the students’ vocational ability as thefirst target, gradually begin to take employment as the guidance. Although they are majorinitiatives in the process, such as the school-enterprise cooperation, curriculum reform, thecareer education and the construction of "double-skilled teacher" and so on, we found thatit is not always fully effective to implement these measures actually, so the vocationalability of secondary vocational school students remains to be strengthened. Accordingly,this study attempts to introduce the concept of career expectations and the theory of thecareer expectations to the above measures of secondary vocational education, in order tomake up for the blank on vocational education in our country.Based on the literature review, the open-question survey and experts’ advice, theauthor develops a model of secondary vocational school students’ career expectation andvocational competence, and has collected some items which apply to secondary vocationalschool students. The preliminary survey has506subjects. The exploratory factor analysisverifies the dimensional structure of career expectation and vocational competence andtests the appropriateness of the questionnaire items. The second survey obtained884validquestionnaires of in a total of1,000Subjects, Through confirmatory actor analysis,finallyget a reasonable structure of career expectation and vocational competence, anddevelop,we have the final the questionnaire of career expectation and vocationalcompetence. The questionnaire refers to three aspects-the first one contains five facters,the second one contains five facters and the third one contains three facters, and includs47items. The validity and reliability test in several dimensions, characteristics analysis andcorrelation analysis of between career expectation and vocational competence are alsoimplemented. They results are as follows:This study analyzes the main influencing factors of secondary vocational schoolstudent’s career expectation further. For example, the secondary vocational students formreasonable career expectation, to which government policy is the fundamental security, to which the vocationcal education of school the main measure, to which family support isthe motivity, to which the demand of enterprises is the basic guide. Finally, the curriculumsystem reform, the school-enterprise cooperation, the construction of "double-skilledteacher" and the career education are discussed in the view of career expectation, in orderto offer benefit to secondary vocational school students to cultivate vocational competence.
