Vocational school students are in an important period of physical and mental development,and strong psychological toughness helps them to achieve better development.School is the second place for vocational school students to grow up.Schools play an extremely important role in the physical and mental growth of secondary vocational students.School teachers should make full use of educational resources,adopt appropriate educational strategies,and coordinate all forces to help secondary vocational students improve their psychological resilience.This research takes the secondary vocational students as the research object,explores the relationship between teacher expectation and the psychological toughness of secondary vocational students,and the mediating role of self-esteem and self-efficacy,and puts forward relevant education suggestions.This study uses the Teacher Expectation Rating Scale,Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale,Self-Esteem Scale,and General Efficacy Scale as research tools.A total of 937 students in three grades from two secondary vocational schools in Hunan Province were surveyed.Explore the current characteristics of teacher expectations,mental toughness,self-esteem,and self-efficacy of secondary vocational students,and the relationship between various variables,establish a relationship model of teacher expectations,mental toughness,self-esteem,and self-efficacy,and analyze the mediation between self-esteem and self-efficacy effect.The results of the study are as follows:(1)Teachers of secondary vocational school students expect to show significant differences in grade;psychological toughness has significant differences in grade,gender,only child and left-behind experience;self-esteem has significant differences in only-child and leftbehind experience;self-efficacy is in grade,There are significant differences in gender,only child and left-behind experience.(2)There is a significant positive correlation between teacher expectations and mental toughness as a whole;teacher expectations are significantly positively correlated with selfesteem and self-efficacy;mental toughness is significantly positively correlated with selfesteem and self-efficacy;self-esteem and self-efficacy are significantly positively correlated.(3)Self-efficacy has a significant mediating role between teacher expectation and mental toughness,which is specifically manifested as a single mediating role of self-esteem,a single mediating role of self-efficacy,and a chain mediating role of self-esteem and self-efficacy.The results show that teacher expectations are closely related to the mental toughness of secondary vocational students.Teacher expectations can not only directly affect the mental toughness of secondary vocational students,but also indirectly affect the mental toughness of secondary vocational students through self-esteem and self-efficacy.Therefore,raising teachers’ expectations for secondary vocational students is of great significance for improving the psychological toughness of secondary vocational students.
