With the development of the world economy, the industry requires a higher quality ofworkers, and to facilitate the development of vocational education. The apprenticeship, theancient form of education is newly awared and re-absorbed by modern vocationaleducation. which has become a new choice of national education strategic. In the UnitedKingdom and Australia, through the implementation of the Modern Apprenticeship, theprofessional quality of workers has been greatly improved, and therefore drive theeconomy grows. As a developing country, China’s vacational education entered a period ofvigorous development along with economic development, and made some achievements,however, there are still many problems limiting economic development speed and qualitynow. How to solve these problems has become one of China’s new era topics. In order tolearn from the successful experience of developed countries, we make some research onModern Apprenticeship in the United Kingdom and Australia, this paper describes theimplementation of the two countries’ modern apprenticeship system, and compare thesimilarities and differences between the two system, and summarize the experience ofthese two countries and the guidelines for the development of vocational education inChina.This paper elaborated the related theoretical foundation of vocational education andmodern apprenticeship connotation firstly, and introduced the development process of thetraditional apprenticeship in the two countries, and compared the similarities anddifferences of the two traditional apprenticeship systems; Then take an Overview on thebackground, framework, operation mechanism and features of modern apprenticeship inthe two countries,and then introduced how vocational schools, employers and theGovernment cooperate in the modern Apprenticeship, the paper concluded the twocountries’ apprenticeship system’s advanced experience and inadequacies, and based onthese experiences, the paper made some policy proposals to promote the development ofvocational education in China.
