Apprenticeship has existed for a long time in Australia.It is a particular form and essential component of Australian vocational education system.More importantly,Australian apprenticeship training has gradually become distinctive over the course of its development and reform,so its apprenticeship training model has become a salient representative in the world.Throughout over 200 years of development and reform,Australian apprenticeship has gone through seven stages,namely,origin and initial development,exploration after the founding of the Commonwealth of Australia,reform consensus,beginning of government intervention,traditional model change,new apprenticeship and the construction of new apprenticeship for the 21stcentury.In this process,Australian apprenticeship evolution has presented three characteristics:a shift from local control to state-led local implementation;industrial training has been incorporated into vocational education and training;the apprenticeship training system has gradually become open.Australian apprenticeship has obtained successful experiences from“passive transplanting”and imitation of British apprenticeship in the colonial period,to independent exploration of how to train industry-oriented skilled personnel with apprenticeship training after the independence,to training system and model innovation:first,the government provides adequate policy support for the development of apprenticeship;second,full play is given to the initiative of different interest groups and industry organizations;third,continuous reform and innovation is pursued to meet the changing needs of the times.Literature review,factor analysis and comparative study are mainly employed in this paper to describe and analyze Australia apprenticeship in different historical periods.It concerns an in-depth study of Australian apprenticeship based on international and domestic comparisons in an attempt to shed an objective light on the milestones of the development and reform of Australian apprenticeship.Meanwhile,this paper sums up successful school running experience and measures of Australia to provide useful reference for the construction of modern apprenticeship that suits Chinese characteristics.
