Having a review of the history of human education about BC400years ago, midwifery of the great philosopher of ancient Greek thinkers–Socrates has become very popular in Europe, becoming a teachingmethod leading education at that time. Up to now it is still one of themost widely used methods of teaching among the teachers. In this paper,according to the basic feature of Socrates’ midwifery, combining withthe features and requires of teaching mathematics in junior school, weapplied the teaching method of midwifery into the teaching ofmathematics in junior school. With the case study, we aim at improvethe learning ability of the students with the help of midwifery, excavatethe inner potential of the students and stimulate their desire of learning,on the other hand, to give instructing to the teachers using this methodand thus improve the teaching ability.There’re six chapters in this paper and the details are as followed:Chapter one: Introduction. It mainly introduces the purpose andsignificance of the subject, and the basic opinions of the research situation both domestic and abroad, the methodology and the innovationof this paper.Chapter two: The basic introduction of Socrates and his importantteaching ideas. This chapter mainly focuses on his whole life andthinking of education.Chapter three: The basic features of Socrates’ midwifery. It mainlyintroduces the basic features and special points of Socrates’ Midwifery,which works as the theoretical foundation of mathematics teaching injunior school in the following applications.Chapter four: the case study of midwifery in mathematics teachingin junior school. I have a case study of the application of midwifery,with the basis of which elaborates how it help improve the teaching inmathematics teaching in junior school.Chapter five: Analysis and applying of the theory of midwifery.Introduces the problems of applying midwifery in mathematics teachingin junior school and thus makes strategic study of midwifery. Itconcludes four aspects of teaching strategies and the thinking ofapplying midwifery in the classroom teaching and thus improveteaching.Chapter six: Conclusion. Introduces the other widely applicationand suggestions of further orientations except for Socrates’ midwifery.
