In (Stepping into) the new century, the opening up policy and economic development require a better education, especially in the opening and multiple information society. New situations and problems occur in education and cultivation of young college students. Expressing student cadres’ functions scientifically and effectively becomes one of the most important ways to achieve colleges’ education and management objectives by student cadres’ self-education, typical guide, model leading and the cohesive, centripetal, emissive forces.Talents cultivation, scientific researches, service community and cultural guide are basic missions of colleges. Student cadres are bridge and bond connecting students and students, students and teachers, students and colleges. However, the effect of traditional managements among student cadres is less than satisfactory now. Many college managers realize that it is inevitable to adopt necessary incentive mechanism. It makes college managers think over that how to explore incentive mechanism of student cadres and play its role, how to make student cadres perfect themselves as well as develop their enthusiasm. This thesis, basing on general rules of college students’ educational management, companying with investigation of realities in foreign studies colleges’ students especially student cadres, analyze problems existing in traditional incentive mechanism in foreign studies colleges student cadres, recognize the importance and necessity of founding and competing incentive mechanism, and enhance the recognition of student managers for theological, practical and developing significance of student cadres incentive mechanism.In this thesis, the author employ the existing incentive mechanism home and abroad to analyze the present incentive mechanism for college student cadres in foreign studies colleges, combining the methods of literature survey, interview and questionnaire. My thesis consists of five parts. The first part serves as the introduction of this thesis, including the background information, aim of the study, its significance, the research methods and its limitations. In the second part, the author will explain what being a student cadre really means and elaborate on the theory of incentive mechanism. The third chapter introduces the existing incentive mechanism adopted by foreign studies colleges and provides a tentative analysis of its problems based on broad interview of and research among student cadres. In the fourth part, the author will analyze the existing incentive mechanism to find out the factors which lead to the problems, thus to lay the theoretical foundation for a better one. In the last part, having made clear the general train of thought and basic principles of incentive mechanism, the author provide certain solutions for the improvement of the existing mechanism catering to different needs, which can help form a better incentive mechanism to better stimulate students cadres in foreign studies colleges.
