With the development of technology and social progress, human beings are faced with different kinds of crises, such as environmental pollution, growing social stress and psychological pressure, as well as psychosomatic problems. These crises will lead to many chronic diseases, mental diseases and sub healthy State which will affect the quality of human life. Nowadays the sense of life maintenance is receiving more attention, as a result, Chinese health preserving and western fitness are becoming the common choices for human beings. These two ways are different in ideological characteristics and forms and they both have advantages and disadvantages. In recent years, they are learning from each other and becoming more integrated in order to promote the full development of human body and mind.This study takes the social system as the point cut and follows its basic functions. It utilizes the documentation method, comparative method and logical analysis to analyze the development of Chinese health preserving and western fitness, as well as the corresponding social system, so as to find out the influences on them.The study shows that Chinese Centralized despotism combining patriarch system with autocratic system from Zhou dynasty to Qing dynasty enabled the formation of Chinese health preserving which attached more importance to the spirit cultivation. On the contrary, the democratic system from Ancient Greece and Rome and chivalric education promoted western fitness to be more fair and challengeable with plenty of body movements.
