| The eighth English Curriculum Reform has great importance to students subjective position and the cultivation of students independence and autonomy. It emphasizes on fostering learning strategies and developing the ability of autonomous learning. Guided by the Eighth Curriculum Reform some positive changes have taken place in educational practice in recent years. Comparatively speaking, there is little change in homework assignment, which has many great effects of curriculum reform. Therefore, interactive homework has become a hot issue for years in China. People attempt to solve the problem in many aspects, but most of them are be an armchair strategist. A lack of elaboration on interactive homework in curriculum standard and the difficulties of systematic research lead to be an armchair strategist. Connecting homework at home and abroad, this thesis intends to observe the Teachers Involve Parents in Schoolwork, which was carried out in American primary and senior schools in1990s and proved to be a success.. This thesis highlights issues related to general homework practice--including time spent on homework, communication between the home and school, and the purposes of homework. In addition, the thesis includes a discussion of the benefits and design of a specific type of interactive homework. By reflecting on homework practices and implementing a regular schedule of interactive homework, teachers have the potential to engage students and families in more positive homework experiences. Teachers Involve Parents in Schoolwork (TIPS) is also called interactive homework. The goals of the interactive homework are to build students’ confidence by requiring them to show their work, share ideas, gather reactions, interview parents, or conduct other interactions with a family partner. However, both teachers and students hold that English homework offers practical assistance with the improvement of English performance. It is also obvious that teachers attempt to design and refine interactive homework with the theories of New Curriculum Reform while some application and efficiency need more research in the future. |
