Having been developing for more than thirty years, private colleges and universities in China play an indispensible role in higher education, for its remarkably improving quality of education and increasing social recognition. Nevertheless, with the development of society, private colleges and universities are facing more and more severe pressure from competition and its situation is still grim, especially in terms of faculty force. With the view to be competitive in complex and fierce environment and realize sound and stable development in a long term, it is a key for private colleges and universities to build a high-level teaching staff. As we all know, compensation benefit represents the evaluation and acceptance for teachers’capability and actual work and is closely bound up with the management and optimized allocation of human resource in private colleges and universities. Obviously, compensation benefit is so tightly related with teachers’vital interest that better pay for teachers contributes a lot for more effective human resource management and allocation as well as for more efficient human capital stimulation.Because of this, through investigating and analyzing the situation of the teachers’ salary and welfare in three extremely representative of non-government universities in Wuhan, this study applied the method of questionnaire and literature research, to realize the factors, which affect the teachers’ salary and benefits, find the problems existing in the salary welfare system of teachers in private colleges, and analyze the reasons.And then,we exploratory designed scientific and reasonable salary welfare system by means of several kinds of typical salary welfare system and combining the basic theory and the basic thoughts of system design of the salary welfare, in order to attract and retain talents.This paper mainly divided into the following three parts:The first part was to define the conception of private colleges, compensation and benefits, etc. Before researching the related issues, we gave an conceptual definition to the content related to research object, confirmed the research object and scope, and analyzed several representative theories associated with salary welfare system.The second part was to design the questionnaire and conduct an investigation. We made the statistics and analysis of the survey results, found out the problems existing in the salary welfare system of teachers in the three private colleges, and then analyzed the reasons.The third part was to exploratory designed scientific and reasonable salary welfare system by means of several kinds of typical salary welfare system and combining the basic theory and the basic thoughts of system design of the salary welfare, in order to attract and retain talents.
