Veteran are an important human resources in socialist countries. Therefore, education and training of veteran is of great significance in establishing harmonious socialist society."Implementation of Regulations on Vocational Skills Through Education and Training for veteran in Hangzhou (Trial)"(Promulgated in2011by Decree No.54of Hangzhou Municipal Government) was issued by Hangzhou Municipal Government and Hangzhou Garrison at the beginning of2011. It calls on to put into practice the vocational skills education and training for ex-soldiers of Hangzhou. This help the placement of veteran. As pointed out by educational theory, veteran should equally share the educational resources and job opportunities and, and positive interactions of school, community and society so that they can adapt to the requirements of modernization development. Education and training of veteran aims to make them better integrate into social construction and realize individual development on the basis of their thorough grasp of skills. Nevertheless, difficulties lie in the implementation of this theory in real work on account of educatees’particularity and the imbalance of economic and social development among various districts. These difficulties are represented in the following aspects. Owing to personal cultural quality, veteran are not able to achieve maximized utilization of educational resources, leading to a waste of resource even though they have the same education opportunities as other on-campus college students. Nowadays, with rapid social development, social environment where veteran live has dramatically changed, it which causes divergence in their recognition of education and training mode, campus cultural life and self-management. It further leads to their lack of learning initiative. In addition, the quality of education and training needs enhancing.The traditional means of education attaches great importance to knowledge imparting and instruction, integrity and effectiveness of education process, but there is deficiency in direct and effective approaches in improving students’requirements of social development and social recognition. Through analysis and research, the advantages of social work can provide strong support for the realization of veteran social development. Social work in school, a special type of social work, applies theories and knowledge of social work to education. Its main functions consist of helping school realize education function, raising the social function of education, and assisting students in correctly recognizing themselves and positively handling various kinds of social behavior and relationships. For veteran, the involvement of social work in school in education and training for veterans’ vocational skills will fundamentally solve various problems, and accelerate Veterans’integration into school and society to the utmost. This thesis, based on the current situation of vocational skills education and training for veteran in Hangzhou, makes analysis of feasibility on the involvement modes of social work in school and all-round surveys. It discuss the specific involvement methods and important stages, suggesting a preliminary planning for the involvement approaches. The work is expected to provide some reference for the further work of vocational skills education and training for veterans and the research on the involvement modes of social work in school.
