Mind map as a visual thinking tool which is able to combine visual thinking with the abstract thinking, was brought forward by Tony Buzan in1960s. Its radial structure and the using of pictures, colors and symbols satisfy the demands of brain. Its key words and visual forms of tree branches help people to process information effectively.According to the problems found in the English teaching practice and the characteristics of the middle school students, the author tries to apply mind map into middle school English review lessons, aiming at testing its effectiveness as a teaching strategy and a way of learning so as to reveal whether it can optimize English review lessons, improve students’thinking quality, stimulate students’learning interests and break through the traditional English review model and increase the efficiency of middle school English review lessons.In view of the limitation of the research, some suggestions for further research are proposed at the end of the thesis.
