Urban issues from generation to now has been troubling people for long time. Theorists have been exploring methods to solve urban issues on politics, economics, anthropology, philosophy of history and cultural philosophy, while few of them studied on view of technology and culture, which makes the lack of fundamental understanding of urban development-oriented. This article based on the spirit of a technical and cultural perspective, from the particular to the general, from the direction of the timeline of the city, the city, city activity study, trying to reveal the guide tracks and laws of urban development.Generation of the city rely on the Neolithic period storage technology, building technology, domesticated animals and plants, and water technology, which lay the material foundation for the development of the city. But compared to the natural conditions of human weakness in the face of nature, culture compensatory role to make up for the lack of technology, which Resulting in the city, forming the "first ancient form", which form of the culture period in the use of technology in the Postman theory has been extended and the formation of a model of a city. The nature of the city is inherited this compensatory role to make up for the lack of technical forms of organization. As the technology uses culture period (or cultural domination Technical period) to the transitional phase of the technocratic culture period, the Baroque city has its own unique characteristics, in the view of the city to break the culture of the rule, the performance of a diversity and unity contradiction of beauty; structure of power, the centralization of the city reached its peak and indicates that a dispersion of power; the first ancient form of chaos in the city function and form, function gradually been set aside in the final consideration. In such a contradictory view of the city, with the intensification of cultural internal contradictions, advances in technology, the Baroque city concept gradually new cultural, technological, economic system under deconstruction. The inertia effect of the culture, the performance of modern urban view for the Baroque city view despot concept democratization, mechanical forms of economic planning and construction techniques monopoly, the first ancient model of technological progress and cultural compensatory role weakened gradually being deconstructed. And with the people reliance on technology, technology completely become the primary means of urban development, suburban formed mega-cities, expresses a "Invisible Cities". At the same time as the cultural role desalination, urban heterogeneity and urban ecological problems become more serious.Based on the analysis of the history of technology and culture in the city, it’s express in four areas. First in technology, culture and urban development work, the performance of a worldview guidelines, military technology, health care technology, production technology, the basic role; followed in the city on the role of technology, culture, manifested as Mumford theory magnet container "feature, the city formed a synthesis of contradictions; again, in the path of technology and cultural impact on cities expressed as:the cultural dominant and performance-the cultural dominant and technology performance-technology dominant and performance, it indicates that the concept of "technology" in the urban society in the infiltration process; Finally the momentum of urban development is the imbalance of technology and culture, this imbalance creates the most basic skills and cultural contradictions, more specific contradictions manifested in the urban view with Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. At last the final route of urban development, the city of its own contradictions and urban status quo analysis to explore the city’s prospects.
