The purpose of this study was to examine of the effectiveness of adapting and supporting strategies concerning the use of the public transportation skill learning of the adolescent with moderate autism. The sample for this study was a13years old elementary school student with moderate autism from Chongqing. This study adopted single subject experimental method A-B-M-P design. The independent variable was adapting and supporting strategies. The dependent variables of this study was the use of the public transportation skill. The study was proceeded for25weeks, include baseline, intervention, maintenance and generalization phases. The data was analyzed by using visual inspection techniques, and the behavioral observation record sheet as the effectiveness was also analyzed. Concluding from the antidotes and statistic results, some findings are listed below:(a) After the adapting and supporting strategies intervention, the sample for this study could surpass baseline performance level of the public transportation skill.(b) The effects also continued after removing the adapting and supporting strategies intervention, and showed that the effect on the public transportation skill of the sample could be maintained.(c) The effects of the adapting and supporting strategies intervention could generalize to realistic situation.(d) Parents responses indicated that she support the effects on the adapting and supporting strategies of her child after intervention. |
