The employment of people with mild or moderate mental retardation is the key to realize their self-worth and participate in social life.As the society pays attention to the employment difficulties of people with moderate or mild mental retardation,promoting the participation of people with moderate or mild mental retardation in employment has also become one of the services of social work institutions.The problem of employment difficulty for moderate and mild mental retardation limits their equal participation in social life.Solving the employment problem is an important link to promote the return of moderate and mild mental retardation to society.Supportive employment,as a new employment mode for the disabled,discusses the service methods and effects of social work intervention for the mildly mentally retarded in order to explore more effective social work intervention strategies.Based on the case study of Guangzhou w institution,this paper summarizes the employment difficulties faced by w institution's intervention in the employment of moderate and mild mental retardation,such as the mismatch between individual ability and employment demand,the disagreement between individual and family employment opinions,the shortage of social support and employment resources,and the employment barriers in the social environment.Under this background,this paper attempts to analyze the internal and external advantageous resources of moderate and mild mental retardation from an advantageous perspective,integrate advantageous resources to carry out supportive employment services,and focus on the social work intervention in the employment training stage and employment tracking counseling.The supportive employment services have achieved remarkable results in three aspects: the individual of moderate and mild mental retardation,the family of moderate and mild mental retardation,and the social environment.At the same time,it is concerned about the problems such as shortage of service personnel,lack of continuity of professional services,limited service resources,imperfect supporting employment service system and so on in the process of developing supporting employment service for the moderately and lightly mentally retarded.On this basis,it puts forward the suggestions of social work intervention for the moderately and lightly mentally retarded from the perspective of advantages: integration of diversified employment advantage resources;Strengthen the participation consciousness of multiple subjects;Perfect the supporting employment service system;Establish a contingent of professionals in social work institutions.
