Pumi Culture Regional Differences

Pumi nationality known as "Xi Fan", and "BA Ju", is settled in5counties of Northwest Yunnan, which are Lijiang,ninglang, lanping, Yongsheng,Weixi,。It is a large dispersion, small settlements nationality. In its distribution area,, also is the home to the people of Mosuo, Yi, Bai and lisu, Tibetan, Han, Naxi. As the population is less, and with multi-ethnic mixed, Pumi culture in preserved their traditional culture at the same time, due to the surrounding, other national culture and the influence of the change presents the obvious regional differences. Generally speaking, in Ninglang Pumi, its culture is influenced by the people of Mosuo, Yi.while in Lanping, the Pumi is more influenced by Bai and han. But the existing research results are most in the Lanping area, Ninglang Pumi little attention。And so far, no scholars have done more researches and in-depth analysis in the differences regions of Pumi culture。At the same time, the existing data shows no systematic study of Pumi cultural differences and the reason。Therefore, the author takes yunnan’s Pumi culture region difference for topic selection, research with Lanping yu-shi-chang and Ninglang hei-er-dian as the field investigation points, proposed on the basis of predecessors’ research, based on the clustered in lanping, ninglang pumi research, try to different areas of comparative study and analysis of the Pumi culture’s difference, in order to more fully display of lanping, ninglang in Pumi culture’s differences and causes of the differences.This paper takes Lanping yu-shi-chang and Ninglang hei-er-dian as a field research point, and is divided into three parts to discuss the Pumi cultural differences. The first part is the traditional culture of Pumi, in order to make a foundation for the second part of the geographical differences. The second part of the thesis focuses on the analysis of differences between Lanping yu-shi-chang and Ninglang hei-er-dian Pumi culture in the clothing, building the living, diet custom, marriage and funeral rites, religious culture and festival culture matters. The language difference is mainly reflected in the daily words and loanwords; clothing differences reflected in style of dress, headgear, color etc. The difference is reflected in the building materials building living, Huotang establishment and Zong bala. Dietary differences reflected in the diet structure and the sacrificial goods. Differences in wedding etiquette reflected in the rite, wedding, funeral, next of kin, grave etc.. The religious and cultural differences in Yushichang is primitive religion, Ninglang Area is influenced by Tibetan buddhism. The festival custom differences evident in my past festival. The third part is the analysis of the cause of Pumi regional cultural difference。 According to the analysis, the causes of regional differences has four。One is that the Pumi traditional culture gradually weakened in the Pumi migration process, second is closely related with the Pumi people living environment, the third is influenced by the surrounding powerful nation, Fourth is the development and migration of the Pumi themself.The main purpose of this paper is to analyze regional differences of Pumi minority in Lanping and Ninglang, in order to better protect and develop the traditional culture., which has great significance for the future construction of Pumi Villages.
