With the development to the contemporary educational idea, the traditional assessment standards of American teacher education can’t adapt to the rapid development of the teacher education and meet the requirements of a comprehensive measurement of teachers’ professional level. The assessment of teachers’ disposition which absorbs more attentions of educators is becoming an important aspect of teacher education assessment system of America. The teachers’ disposition is a remarkable symbol to determine whether the teacher candidates equip with the teachers’ professional ethics and the potential teacher qualifications. The cultivation and assessment of disposition is a crucial stage of the development of pre-service teacher education.Under the back ground of the progressive emphasis of the teachers’ professional ethics in today’s international education field, many countries are performing the teacher education reform, while our researches on teachers’ disposition is still in its infancy, which limit to the text elaboration of the disposition standards and lack of the analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the disposition standards as well as the guidance to China.Given full consideration to the times, system contemporaneity and adaptability of the disposition in the American teacher education standards, the disposition assessment of the American teacher education standards is discussed in four chapters by sorting out and analyzing the large number of literatures:In Chapter1, the reason why the author did this study, there search status at home and abroad, the definition of relevant concepts, and the purpose, content, methods, ideas, significance and innovation of this study are systematically expounded.In Chapter2, the historic evolution of the American teachers’dispositions in American teacher education standards is understood through its causes and course of development.In Chapter3, a comprehensive introduction to the purpose, standards, principles, influencing factors, content, and methods and tools of the study of teachers’disposition assessment that the assessment experts of American teachers’ dispositions did is provided. Then the subject matters of the implementation and so on. In the assessment that the assessors of the American teachers’ dispositions did is discussed in detail, illustrating Purdue University in Indiana, USA.And at the end, in Chapter4, profound analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the disposition and its assessment in American teacher education standards is provided; at the meantime, the advanced experience of the disposition and its assessment in American teacher education standards can provide guidance to accelerate current teacher education reform in China, to promote the development of teacher qualifications access and to over come the existing problems in teacher education and teaching, such as presenting too much emphasis on knowledge and skills but neglecting teachers’ actual effort.
