This study arises from some thoughts incurred in the teachers’ professional development during bottleneck period since author has been engaged in teaching for eight years. With a new round of education reform kicked off, the importance of teacher’s quality is increasingly highlighted. Teachers’ discipline value is an important part of teachers’ quality.This study, combining theory with practice, taking two chemical teachers in exemplary senior high school in Shanghai for example, has interviewed chemistry teachers with different education background and teaching experiences mainly through the interview method, and has found some necessary connection between teachers’ emotional factors and professional development. The article consists of introduction and contents of four chapters. The introduction in chapter 1 has introduced the origin and the significance of research, and has defined the main concepts and the status quo of research at home and abroad. Research method in chapter 2 has made detailed discussion on the selection of interview object, the formulation of interview outline and the design of the interview process. Chapter 3 has established the content of the interview, and chapter 4 is conclusion and suggestions.The following conclusion can be drawn by analysis of the content in interview made in this study: strong interest and pos itive discipline emotion is the cornerstone of successful teachers’ career. At the same time, three suggestions to young teachers’ professional growth have also been put forward: firstly, they shall be able to reflect and adept at learning. Secondly, the r esearch of history of chemistry helps young teachers enhance discipline emotion. Thirdly, they shall buckle down to those who press close to students.Because this article adopts the research method of case interview, there are certain limitations in the selection of research object, which may not be universal in different areas and for different schooling stages and distinct disciplines.
