Yi is an ethnic minority with a long history and culture. In the vast literatures of Yi, Mamuteyi is a rare ancient literature.In Liangshan Yi district, Mamuteyi is widely circulated and far-reaching. It contains civilization, hard-working, kind, integrity, unity, harmony, and other outstanding ideological content which belong to truth, goodness and beauty theme in human society. These ideological contents are the eternal truths of human society. Mamuteyi used vivid description approaches, poetic language to discuss the development of human life. The language of Mamuteyi is flowing and full of rhyme. This book contains a great deal of religious culture, philosophy and social culture. This book is the essence of Yi traditional culture, the existential philosophy of Yi people, the judging standard of right and wrong, gains and losses., the collections of the outlook on life and value of Yi ancestorsBased on the methods of literature, interview, questionnaire and filed survey, this paper conducts a comprehensive research and study on Mamuteyi from the form, content, function and current situation of education, etc. Ultimately this research puts forward suggestions and reflections from the perspective of protection and inheritance of our outstanding traditional culture.This paper is divided into three chapters:The first chapter discusses the time and the author of Mamuteyi,summarizing its properties and characteristics. The second part analyses the function of Mamuteyi in traditional society from several aspects including function origin background, class rule function, education function and culture heritage function, etc.The third chapter studies the current situation in education of Mamuteyi from three areas of family, community and school, making recommendations and reflections.
