High school and university students’ mental health problem is always the attention of the academic community. Adolescent with mental illness is few, but mental sub-health which is the transitional stage to mental illness is widespread among the youth and affects their growth seriously. Thus this subject through empirical investigation and the study of adolescent mental sub-health, try to find the influencing factors and investigate the overall condition of adolescent mental sub-health also the ways to adolescent’s health growth.In this paper, the writer studied the mental health situation of high school and university students in Nanjing through empirical investigation:on the basis of literature, using Adolescent mental health questionnaire surveys1200students lived in Nanjing. The research will use statistical software SPSS17.0to analyze the database and show the results.The purpose of the overall condition of the high school and university students psychological sub-health in Nanjing, the high-risk detection rate is13%. Emotional problem is the most serious, then adaptive problem behavior problem and interpersonal problem. Though adolescent mental sub-health is widespread, the specific problems are different in gender, age, residence and parents’ education level. The differences in residence and parents’ education level are obvious which shows external differences are more important.The correlation analysis shows that lack of physical exercises, adverse lifestyle, weaker online game time control, overly concerned with appearance and twisted sexual psychology are main factors influencing adolescents’ mental sub-health. The problem of adolescents’ mental sub-health is socially constructed. Analysis of sociological theory shows that through changing upbringing style by parents, improving teaching philosophy by teachers, offering more public space and events by communities and reforming education system by government, we would provide a better growth environment to improve adolescents’ mental sub-health.
