There are many reading materials in curriculum standards-based experimental mathematics textbooks of senior high school (Version A), which were published by People’s Education Press. In order to know secondary school teachers’ and students’ views and practices on these reading materials, the dissertation designed three questionnaires and surveyed186teachers and223students. Three questions were explored from the point of teaching, learning and assessment:(1) Whether reading materials can promote teachers’ teaching quality?(2) Whether reading materials can promote students’ development?(3) Whether reading materials can promote designing mathematics exam problems? According to the analysis of questionnaires and textbooks, the results conclude as below:(1) On the aspect of improving teaching quality, the values of reading materials consists of creating teaching situations, designing mathematics problems, extending teaching contents, enlivening classroom atmosphere, developing spirits of exploring, and enhancing students’ experiences.(2)On the aspect of promoting students’ learning, the values of reading materials consists of actively obtaining knowledge and transferring learning methods, enlarging psychological activities and improving mathematical abilities, arousing learning interest and extending mathematics insights, consolidating related knowledge and triggering knowledge’s connections, explaining elementary problems and deepening mathematics understanding, experiencing knowledge’s application and developing mathematics sense, and developing emotions, attitudes and values and promoting all round development.(3)On the aspect of enriching the ways for assessing teaching quality, the reading materials were used as the context materials of exam problems.
