At present, the contemporary Chinese college students are experiencing greatimpacts from diversified values. The ethical deviations and moral problems in theirvalue orientations, however, are drawing increasing attention from ideologicaleducation workers. In terms of this, this present paper is intended to analyze the valueorientations of contemporary Chinese college students from an ethical perspective,major characteristics and ethical drawbacks of which are the focus. The strategies ofguiding college students to form positive values are also presented.Roughly, by analyzing the impacts of major values in the transitional period, i.e.hedonism, money-orientalism, pessimism, will to power, unitarianism andpragmatism, the paper focuses on the moral problems of major value orientations byadopting an ethical perspective, including (1) the ethical deviations of love in terms ofmarriage obligations,(2) the traditional consumption ethics is overlooked by toomuch emphasis on excessive consumption, and (3) unawareness of the deepconnotations of responsibility ethics. Based on the analyses of causes, the followingstrategies are put forward to guide college students to establish positive and correctvalue orientations, namely (1) strengthen the family education,(2) strengthen collegeeducation and management and attach more importance to campus culture,(3) putmore stress on the moral problems of college students.It is apparent that by adopting an ethical perspective to the value orientations ofcontemporary Chinese college students and then putting forward the strategies ofguiding them to establish positive and correct values, the paper sheds some light onthe ideological education of college students in terms of their value orientations andmoral education.
