China has a long-term traditional ideas of "raise children to old age", The phenomenon of adoptchildren is more common in rural areas. This paper presents a qualitative study on the phenomenon ofadopt children. A phenomenological approach has been employed for the researcher concerns on bothobjective and subjective experience of the adoptor, and expects to gain a deep understanding of thephenomenon through in-depth interviews and participatory observation.Based on the analysis of qualitative data collected, the research conclusions are as follows:More of the children who are adopted are girls. The cause of adaption is vary, such as have theirown children, balance the sex of the children, take care of their vulnerable children, pension and inherit.Second,The ways to adopt a child are from relatives, friends and acquaintances, as well as take theinitiative to send home. Third,adopt a child have a certain formalities, In the past,adopted a child wouldbasically represent symbolically,however, the procedures of adopt a child have certain "rules" now.Fourth, In rural areas, the people placing out the child will take into account each other’s familyeconomic conditions, parental character and health status, The adoptor will determine whether the eachother’s child is clever. Fifth, the adoptors place more emphasis on the training and education ofdependent children.On the basis of the reason interpretation of the above conclusions, the author proposes a series ofmeasures accordingly in order to provide the basis for effective management of society to adopt a child.
