In the glorious course of the history of Chinese civilization, sprung up numerous remarkable representative schools and figures. Confucian school, represented by Confucious and Menci, is a distinctive banner in Chinese history and its profound and significant thought has an incomparable impact to either modern or ancient China. Confucian aesthetic thought, as one of the features of the great and profound Confucian, is a complete system with abundant content and of tremendous influence connecting the past and the future and greatly contributing to the development of Chinese aesthetic thought. As today’s education is enhancing gradually its demand for aesthetic education and educators are paying increasing attention to it, Confucian aesthetic thought is regarded as a typical model in the research for the development of aesthetic education. Therefore, aiming to contribute to the development of aesthetic education, this paper will strive to further research and examine Confucian aesthetic education system.In order to objectively, precisely and completely reveal the essence of Confucian aesthetic education which was established thousands years ago, this paper will commence, on the basis of massive historical data, from the history of development of Confucian aesthetic education to analyze and summarize various factors of the theoretical system of Confucian aesthetic education such as historical origin, social background, purpose and function, principles and methods, historical value, and practical significance.The first part will mainly analyze the historical origin and background of the foundation of the theoretical system of Confucian aesthetic education by tracing how the development of hazy aesthetic consciousness, aesthetic education thought, and culture and art of ancient times laid the foundation for Confucian aesthetic education, and the specific historical background of the Spring and Autumn period of the germination of Confucian aesthetic education theory.The second and third parts mainly focus on the content and theoretical system of aesthetic education thought in Confucianism. The second part analyzes the discussions on the aims and functions of aesthetic education. The third part provides the rules and methodology aesthetic e ducation thought in Confucianism. These sections discuss the formation, development and the sublimation of aesthetic education thought in Confucianism. By providing the overall aestheti c education thought in Confucianism, theories of the system can be of great significance for fu rther study in the area.The fourth part maintains the significance of aesthetic education thought system in Confuc ianism, which is discussed from the perspective of historical value and contemporary implicat ions. The impact of Confuciacian aesthetic education on the development of aesthetic educati on, as well as its implications for contemporary aesthetic education and the development of th e country are expressed respectively in a objective and concise way. This study benefits a lot f or the development of contemporary aesthetic education.With the improvement of material condition in present day, people tend to pursue the deve lopment in spirit.
