Functional contextualism as a philosophy is based on the worldview foundationof contextualism. Instructional design based on functional contextualism is one of theemerging thinking in recent years. It is a pragmatic teaching philosophy advocated bythe design of the learning environment to change students’ behavior and experiencehas demonstrated to affect the behavior of the situation. In the context of the newcurriculum reform in full swing, situated teaching is a widespread concern and moreeffective teaching methods in the attempted language teaching methods. Moreover, ithas functional contextualism in common whether the creation of "situation" or"mood" in the classical poetry.In this paper, the use of literature, the system of scientific method and casestudies method based on functional contextualism theory, introduced and analyzed bythe meeting point of functional contextualism and classical poetry situated teaching insecondary school and the problem of classical poetry situated teaching in secondaryschool,discusses the inspiration and guidance of functional contextualism, and soughtto find out the strategies and methods of how the systematic use of functionalcontextualism assisted the classical poetry situated teaching in secondary school.Mainly from the view of theory with practice,according to five aspects of the analysisof the characteristics of the teaching objectives, select the events affecting teaching,situational creation of the impact on students’ behavior, the process of teachingevaluation and try to design case, elaborated the idea of using functionalcontextualism instructs the classical poetry situated teaching in secondary school.Finally, full consideration to the problem of the classical poetry situated teaching insecondary school based on functional contextualism should be noted. Strive toprovide some new, available for reference teaching theory and practice for theapplication of the classical poetry situated teaching in secondary school.
