A Research On Democratic Awareness Education Of Primary School Students

People’s democratic awareness generates from a country’sdemocratic politics, democratic rights and democratic legal system underthe political and economic systems. In short, it is a kind of cognitionthat they are the masters of the country, including subject consciousness,rights consciousness, and sense of participation, sense of equality,sense of supervision, legal sense, and management awareness and so on.Establishing pupils’ democratic awareness is not only a groundwork tobuild socialist political civilization, a need to develop our country andstrengthen moral education, but also the inevitable requirement for theoverall development of primary school students.By issuing questionnaires to982high-grade students and interviewingsome of them from five elementary schools in Nanchang, this paper findsout that pupils’ democratic sense and awareness of democraticparticipation has been improved and management sense starts to grow,butsense of equality needs to be advanced, democratic supervision isrelatively weak, legal sense is one-sided. By analyzing answers fromteachers, it is not difficult to see that the democratic awarenesseducation still possesses some problems; schools are lack of atmospherecultivating democratic sense of students. Teachers themselves need toimprove democratic senses, and democratic consciousness education isrelatively lagged behind, the curriculum implementation of democraticconsciousness education needs to be improved and teaching methods is dull,teaching contents are boring.Based on the research discussed above, this paper proposes someadvices to improve students’ democratic awareness: viewing from thesocial aspects, harmonious and democratic social environment needs to bebuilt; for school, it is better to cultivate democratic atmosphere incampus, implementing democratic management of classes, carrying outdemocratic teaching and enriching democratic teaching contents. Lookingfrom the family aspects, the role of family should be advanced. In general,society, school and family should combined together to jointly prompt thedevelopment of students’ democratic awareness.
