The resource allocation of higher vocational education (HVE) in China is an overall and long-term planning for China’s higher vocational education resources. The research of HVE resource allocation is significant to promoting the coordinating development of higher vocational education, and so is to meeting people’s higher vocational education needs and building a socialism harmonious society. Whether the resource allocation of HVE is reasonable or not, is related to the coordinated development between regional HVE and regional economy. This paper firstly analyzes the current situation of the resource allocation of HVE in China with such methods as literature, statistical research and comparison analysis, and then analyzes the existed problems of HVE resource allocation in China and its causes, finally offers some optimization countermeasures. The research suggests that, currently the resource allocation of HVE in China mainly includes the following problems. First, the quantity of HVE resources in China is inadequate. Second, the internal structure of China’s higher vocational education needs to be further adjusted. Third, the resource allocation of HVE in China appears serious regional differences. Forth, the resource allocation mechanism of HVE in China needs to be further improved. Fifth, the development of regional HVE is uncoordinated with the development of regional economy and society. In order to optimize the resource allocation of HVE in China, the central government should implement a "relatively fair" HVE resource allocation policy, complete the government and market regulation mechanism of HVE resource, and establish the monitoring and early-warning mechanism for the basic conditions of higher vocational colleges. The provincial government should not only develop a reasonable regional HVE policy to achieve the characteristic development of regional HVE, but also expand investment channels to support the development of HVE in provincial regions. The country should implement a preferential policy for the development of HVE in the western region, enlarge counter-support strength to the western region, and promote interregional HVE cooperation.
