With the development of modern society, people’s attention of losing weight is improving.Theproblem of reducing weight is also attracting more and more attention. The former research about therelationship between weight loss and the level of self-esteem mainly focus on child and adolescent obesity,and most of them focus on behavior of overweight group while only few paper focus on the relationshipbetween self-esteem and weight.After considering the definition of self-esteem by domestic and overseasexperts in history, this research defined self-esteem as individuals’ positive emotional experience of selfvalue, importance of themselves, and eager to success, including self cognitive value.The effect reducingweight is defined as the absolute value of difference between the weight loss and body mass index (BMI).The difference of BMI is larger, the effect of weight loss is better.And use the formula: body mass index(BMI)=[weight (kg)]/[height (m)]~2calculate the body mass index of the individual.Through theinvestigation of the present situation of the losing weight group of college students of the self-esteem levelsand the effect of losing weight,and the analysis of correlation and the differences between the demographicvariables, the paper aims to understand the college students’ physical qualities and self-esteem, to explorethe relationship between the effect of losing weight and the self-esteem levels, and based on this, toadvance some suggestions on how to promote the effect of losing weight.The thesis mainly adopts the literature method and questionnaire method.there are192losing weightindividuals of college students as the participants in the study. The thesis adopts questionnaire method, andchooses the Rosenberg self-esteem scale(SES) as the research tool.The study analyses the relationship between the levels of self-esteem and the behavior of losingweight and the relationship between the effect of losing weight and the of losing weight,and compares thedifferences of the gender demographic variables.Mainly reached the following conclusions:(1)Losingweight individuals of college students’ levels of self-esteem is higher in whole, and there is no significantdifference on gender;(2)There are notable differences of the losing weight individuals of college students’attention for their figures in gender;(3)There is a significant positive correlation between the losing weightindividuals of college students’ levels of self-esteem and effect of losing weight;(4)In the losing weight group of college students, the effect of losing weight of the group with the high level of self-esteem and thegroup with the low level of self-esteem is better than the group with the moderate level of self-esteem;(5)Inthe losing weight group of college students,the initiative of the losing weight behavior with the high levelof self-esteem and the group with the low level of self-esteem is higher than the group with the moderatelevel of self-esteem.According to the results of study, how to use the relationship between the levels of self-esteem andlosing weight effect to promote the effect of individuals’ losing weight? The thesis puts forward twosuggestions and strategies from two aspects of the losing weight individuals’ itself factors and thesurrounding factors:(1)Losing weight individuals must strengthen the attention for their figures;(2)Losingweight individuals do not accumulate the bad mood;(3)Losing weight individuals must cooperate with thecoach actively;(4) People around the losing weight individuals must give them more encouragement, andless blow.
