Research purposes: with the development of The Times, people material lifelevel unceasing enhancement, the incidence of overweight and obesity in childrenand adolescents is rising trend, the first-tier cities like Beijing and Shanghai. Obesitynot only bring physical harm to children and adolescents, their effects on mentalhealth is also nots allow to ignore. All of this study is to research the present situationof Shanghai obese students’ self-consciousness and physical self-esteem, andthrough the exercise intervention study for obese students’ to research exercise onself-consciousness and physical self-esteem effects of obesity students and possiblemechanisms of this effect. Research methods: using childrens self-consciousnessscale and childrens physical self-esteem scale to study obese pupilsself-consciousness and physical self-esteem level for1784students of six school ingarden four to five, according to the result of investigation and using the exerciseintervention to the object of study for a period of22weeks intervention to improvethe current low level of self-consciousness and physical self-esteem. Results: The rateof obesity in six schools is18.61%, among them boys reached24.08%, girls reached12.01%; Obese childrens has lower self-consciousness and physical self-esteem levelthan the normal weight students; Suburban students have lower self-consciousnessand physical self-esteem levels compared to urban students; After the exerciseintervention, obese pupils’ self-consciousness level increased significantly, performedat behavior, intelligence and school situation, the body appearance and overalldimensions attributes, self-consciousness all score; After the exerciseintervention,obese pupils’ physical self-esteem level increased significantly,performed at physical attraction, motor skills, appearance, physical activity, speed,endurance, body value, the overall self-esteem dimensions; After the exerciseintervention, obese pupils’ body fat percentage and Body Mass Index (BMI) wasreducer significantly; BMI has a very significant negative correlation withself-consciousness at behavior, intelligence and school, anxiety, total score, and has asignificant negative correlation with self-consciousness at physical appearance properties; BMI has a very significant negative correlation with physical self-esteemat physical attraction, motor skill, speed, endurance, body coordination, value of thebody; Conclusion: obesity can affect pupils psychological health, make its have lowerlevel of self-consciousness and physical self-esteem; Exercise intervention caneffectively improve the level of obese students self-consciousness and physicalself-esteem, reduce obesity students body fat percentage and BMI; The improvementof obesity students self-consciousness and physical self-esteem maybe associatedwith the BMI’s reducing.
