In September2010, The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for Collegeand Careers in America received a$186million grant through the U.S.Department ofEducation’s Race to the Top assessment competition. They aim to construct thenational assessment system that: building a pathway to college and career readinessfor all students; creating assessments that measure the full range of the Common CoreState Standards. Currently,22states plus the U.S. Virgin Islands work together todevelop the assessment system. PARCC assessment system is designed to makechanges to the present assessment which is based on the standard curriculum standard,then, leading to implement the national academic assessment in English andmathematics. By using the literature research,this paper discusses and analyses thePARCC assessment system on the basis of full understanding related data. This paperexplores the background, content framework, the methods and procedures of PARCCassessment system. The analysis of the of PARCC assessment system offers somevaluable advice on our academic assessment reform.The paper is divided into five parts:The first part is introduction of this paper, which describes the reasons forselecting this topic, key concept, main content, and reviews related literatures.The second part mainly explores the background of developing PARCCassessment system. Standard-based reform movement and the increasing problems ofstate assessment system jointly promote the development of PARCC assessmentsystem.The third part mainly illustrates the goals and the content framework ofassessment system. The content framework of PARCC assessment system includesbinary assessment structure; English and math cored subject assessment; thepartnership resource center; text complexity diagnostic; tool options for assessmentand so on.The forth part mainly analyses the approach to assessment development whichconsists of evidence-centered design and universal design, and the developmentprocedure.The fifth part mainly Synthesized and summarized main features of PARCCassessment system.
