Cultivating Active Citizens: Colleges And Universities Ideological And Political Education’s New Horizon

The Party and the country attaches great importance to the development andchange of ideological and political education in the new period.They require collegeideological and political education to regulate actively, comply with the trend of thetimes, meet the needs of the economic and social development, improve the quality ofcollege ideological and political education, promote all-round development of collegestudents.Learning from the western active citizens education’s theory is an importantway to promote college ideological and political education’s reforms andinnovation.Cultivating active citizens has become the important developmentdirection of the current western civic education theory,the theory and the practice ofactive citizens education have already achieved important research results. This articleis based on the actual development of our society, taking cultivating college studentsto become active citizens as a new sight of the ideological and political education ofcolleges and universities.It uses comparison method,literature research method andexperience summary method to analyze and discuss active citizens education’s theoryand the necessity of cultivating college students become active citizens, and on thisbasis to explore the influencing factors of cultivating active citizens in colleges anduniversities, makes tentative system research to the strategies of cultivating activecitizens efficiently.This article is divided into four parts.The first part makes a detailed introductionto active citizens education’s theory from three aspects of the concept of activecitizens, the content of active citizens education’s theory and the relationship betweenactive citizens education and ideological and political education; the second partmainly discusses the practice base of cultivating active citizens in colleges anduniversities, it fully demonstrates that cultivating active citizens has its root in theneed of college students’ comprehensive development, social development and thereform of ideological and political education; the third part analyses basic elementswhich influence active citizens’cultivating; the fourth part discusses actively thestrategies in cultivating active citizens in colleges and universities from four aspectsof principle, goal, content and method.
