In last ten years, personal-owned education training industry has enjoyed a fast development, which plays an important role in accelerating the national education career. This inevitably contributes to the principals of these schools. It is the special characters of these schools that decided the double titles, namely education experts and enterprise leaders, of the principals. Therefore, this paper has made a research on the situation of principals with the use of competency item, pointed out the competency factors, and finally worked out the competency model.After plenty documentary study and professional consult, the competency hypothesis model of principals has been initially built up, and the questionnaire named Competency Characters of Principals in Personal-owned Education Training Schools was made. Then a series of interviews towards principals in Nanning provide data to testify the hypothesis and find that principals have13competency characters such as Analysis Thinking, Self-Control, Relation Building, Information Seeking, Professional knowledge, Teamwork and Cooperation, Communication ability, Innovation, Influence, Developing others, achievement Orientation, Organization Awareness, The spirit of devotion and so on, among which professional knowledge, Analysis Thinking, Self-Control, Relation Building, Information Seeking are main characters and the critical ones. At the same time, the competency model is also helpful for the principals’ selection, training, performance and salary management.
