Study On The Ideological And Political Education For College Students Under The General Trend Of Popularization Of Higher Education

Nowadays, higher education is transforming from meritocracy into mass education in China. It indicates higher education has been in the popular development stage historically. The present higher education consists of multilevel structures with a multifarious evaluating system conducted to set standard for teaching quality, which satisfies the development of mass education. Throughout the history, it is found worldwide that the teaching quality and the quality of university students including their humanist values and ideological and ethical standards declined in the course of transforming from meritocracy into mass education. However, it is admitted that the development of mass education has a comprehensive and profound influence on students’ ideological and political education. In China, it is proved that such an influence which is both a challenge and an opportunity on students’ideological and political education are embodied in many aspects, such as the change of education sponsors from one party to multiple parties, the change of ways that students service the society, influence on students’ideological and political education caused by diverse higher education structures, quality standards and the expand of education dimension. Therefore, the present ideological and political education should advocate unitary concept of guiding ideology and correct values as well as new measures associated with social practice. Meanwhile, close attention should be attached to the development of student’ personality and the construction of subjectivity education mode. Additionally, the ideological and political education needs to emphasize great moral education creating a sound atmosphere for mass education. It is also of importance to update educational means. Moreover, the ideological and political education should focus on the building of a three-dimensional system in which every student is involved. In order to improve the total quality, the construction of education team should be steengthened at the same time. In short, it is the need of the popularization of higher education to carry out university students’ideological and political education which develops in accordance to the development of higher education theoretically and pratically in the new historic stage.
