Philosophical Reconsideration On Giddens’ Theory Of Risk Society

With intensifying globalization, the human society is undergoing profoundchanges, all kinds of unstable factors to stimulate production of large numbers of thevarious risks, The whole world presents a risk of a disturbing vision. In this historicalbackground,Britain’s famous theorist Anthony Giddens was based on deep research ofmodernity, creatively put forward the "risk society" theory, and it has caused theextensive concern of the theoretical circle and identity. Although China and thewestern developed countries have many differences in national conditions, in today’sglobal risk integration trend, our country has stepped into a risk society, is facing thedual challenges of domestic social transformation risk and global risk. In order topromote our country’s construction of marxist "scientific concept of risk", We shouldreference and draw lessons from western theory of risk society,and it has become animportant task of China’s current risk society theory. Therefore, the author tries toresearch on Giddens’ risk society theory and analyzes the theory in the perspective ofmarxist philosophy. At the same time, the author is focused on the current situation ofsocial risk in our country, draw lessons from the risk society theory of Giddens, tryingto find suitable for China’s national conditions of the effective ways to avoid andcross social risks.This thesis begins from Giddens’s theory of risk society, which is divided intothree major parts. The first part mainly introduces the basic content of Giddens’ risksociety theory. It mainly includes the connotation of risk and risk society, the rootcauses of risks and risk prevention. The second part, Standing in the position ofMarxist philosophy, through historical ontology, axiology and transformation theoryof risk society,it is the philosophical reflection and objective analysis on Giddens’theory of risk society. The third part, we analysis the main risk that our countrysociety is facing, critique Giddens’s theory of risk society in marxist theory. In theaffirmation of its reference value at the same time, it points out its historicallimitations, and puts forward prevention to deal with risk in our country, the effectiveway of building a harmonious society.
