The development of the society has entered into the era of electronic information, and modern education technology has been introduced into class with computer and Internet as the core, which will exert a great impact on mathematical education. Specific requirements for the application of computer information technology have been made in the mathematics course standards of all developed countries or regions respectively. And China also pays great attention to the influence of computer on the students’learning content, learning methods and teachers’ teaching modes, and takes education technology as a powerful tool for students to learn mathematics and solve problems, in the hope of changing students’ learning methods and making them interested in learning. However, among various kinds of computer-assisted instruction (hereinafter referred to as CAI) software, no suitable one exists. Therefore, combined with teaching practice, this paper discusses the application of information technology in senior school mathematics teaching, and concludes that the new mode of applying Matlab to senior school teaching of mathematical function is suitable for current CAI in most schools.First of all, the author carries out field research about current senior school teaching of mathematical function, and then reflects on traditional teaching mode of mathematical function. Then the author defines relevant concepts in accordance with the characteristics of Matlab and function teaching, and puts forward two teaching modes of applying Matlab to senior school teaching of mathematical function with teaching case analysis. Finally, the author makes a comparison between traditional function teaching mode and the above-mentioned two teaching modes (demonstration mode of teachers in class and self-learning and instructional teaching mode for students to do experiments), so as to verify the conclusion.The innovative point of this paper lies in applying Matlab to two teaching modes in senior school mathematical teaching of function, including demonstration mode of teachers in class and self-learning and instructional teaching mode for students to do experiments. The unique feature of this paper is applying Matlab to teaching with graph of function and students’experiments. The utilization of Matlab in visualized teaching of senior school function can deepen students’impression of knowledge, enhance their interest in learning function, and inspire their curiosity and active exploration about function. In this paper, the application of Matlab to senior school teaching of mathematical function is discussed and thus certain teaching strategies are formed, which have been used in the case analysis to provide feasible and detailed guidance.Through the contrast experiment, it is proved that the new teaching mode is more excellent than the traditional teaching mode, because it could inspire students’interest in learning function, make them understand function better, improve their practical ability and enable them to apply function consciously.
