Red resources are the valuable wealth created in the long-term revolutionarystruggle by the Communist Party of China, which are also the precious resourcesin the university students’ ideological and political education. West Coast StraitEconomic Zones has rich red resources, which has unique advantages andimportant value in college students’ ideological and political education. There aretwo important issues which need to be explored in order to strengthen and improvethe application of red resources in college students’ ideological and politicaleducation. The first issue is how to cultivate college Students’ spirit and quality offirm belief, independent innovation, being realistic and pragmatic, daring tostruggle, hard-working, and selfless devotion by effectively using the redresources in West Coast Strait Economic Zones such as the central Soviet spiritand the spirit of Gutian Conference. The second issue is how to seize the strategicopportunities for the development of the West Coast Strait and propose effectivecountermeasures and suggestions, combining with the characteristics of theresources distribution and the historical and cultural traditions as well as socialrealities in West Coast Economic Zones based on the actuality of the application ofred resources in the contemporary ideological and political education.From the perspective of red resources’ connotation and its significance to theuniversity students’ ideological and political education, this thesis analyzes theapplication status quo of red sources and puts forward five principles, which arethe main principle, the guiding principle, the principle of recessive education, theprinciple of integration, and the systematic principles. Based on this, this thesisalso tries to explore the application ways of the red resources in the contemporarycollege students’ ideological and political education from the following aspects:exploring the deeper spiritual connotation of red resources, optimizing classroomeducation, extending practical experiences, enhancing campus culture environment,purifying the social and cultural environment, integrating the space distributionand content system, establishing long-term mechanism of using red resources. It is expected that this thesis can make contribution to the improvement of usingefficiency of red resources in the contemporary college students’ ideological andpolitical education.
