Biological experimental teaching is an important part of the teaching of biology. First of all, as the common effective teaching methods, the role of the biological experiment teaching is not only to enable students to acquire subject knowledge and operating skills, and also charged with the important task to develop students’scientific literacy and an inquisitive mind. Second, the cultivation of the students’interest in learning is also dependent on the effective implementation of the biological experiment teaching. Only through participating of students in biological experiments, they are able to master the correct scientific methods and ways of thinking, as well as to be inspired and motivated to learn the subject. These two points need to bring to the attention of every teacher and researcher engaged in the teaching of biology.Firstly, the preface clarifies the importance of biological experiments both in the discipline and in the development of students’scientific literacy. In order to understand the status of the implementation of biology experiments in the junior and senor middle schools in the city, a survey was conducted among students and teachers from ten schools covering Xuhui District, Minhang District, and Huangpu District. It is concluded that the form and content of the existing biological experiments curriculum can not completely meet the learning needs of the secondary school students. Besides, there are certain differences between the junior middle school and senior middle school students in terms of learning objectives and interests, which are complementary to each other at the same time. The current experimental courses lack of overall integrity and sustainable exploration activities. As a result, students’ scientific literacy courses can’t be significantly improved. In response to the urgent need to solve these problems, and in the context of the administrative unification of a junior and a senior middle school, the integration of the biological experimental curriculums of junior and senior middle school is proposed and the feasibility of the same is evaluated,By designing and implementing of the new biological experiments, including the basic experiments and expanding experimental section, another investigation was conducted on the students to verify the impact of such integration on students’interests and objectives in learning. At the same time, some of the possible difficulties that may be encountered in the process of implementing the integration are identified and some suggestions are also provided.
