In the process of our country’s urbanization, the problems of hometown-remainedchildren have become a social issue of concern, among which discomfort and deviationof interpersonal communication caused by the absence of parents are becoming more andmore serious.Through the investigation of the interpersonal skills of hometown-remainedchildren, this paper lists the obstacles lying in their interpersonal communication asfollows: be weak in expressing their inner feelings due to insufficient understanding oftheir inner world; be unable to correctly understand others because of the cognitivebiases with others and society; be lack of communication initiative for they often feelinferiority in interpersonal interaction holding that others are better than they are.Therefore, this paper attempts to promote the hometown-remained children’ sinterpersonal skills by launching a tentative practice research and exploration in GongpuPrimary School in the form of group work named With You. The paper describes indetail the process of six theme activities, and analyzes the role group work plays intraining the interpersonal skills of hometown-remained children. It is hoped that theirinterpersonal requirements will be bettered through the activities.Through the summary and evaluation of the research, it is concluded in this paperthat group work plays a key role in enhancing hometown-remained children’sinterpersonal skills. Group work means strong targeted and full participate which helphometown-remained children gain a sense of belonging and self-esteem, unleash badfeelings, shape correct cognition, learn interpersonal skills and so on.
