Nowadays it has become a broader trend to learn English with conscious awareness in our society. Inthe past years, English teaching and study in our country has made great progress, and students’ learning ofEnglish has been improved greatly. However, in rural senior high school, the situation of learning English isnot optimistic, the number of students with English learning difficulty is increasing.ZX senior high school is a new rural senior high school, which was set up in2009September, formedby merging five former schools. The school has faced many kinds of problems and difficulties since it wasbuilt. The students have the very obvious leaning difficulties, especially in English. How to change thistough situation is a big problem to be solved badly for our school. So, based on this issue, the authorstudied related research at home and abroad.Meanwhile, considering the actual basis of students, theauthor made a detailed survey about students’ English study through questionnaires and personal interviewsto analyze the main causes; Finally, through the case study, the teacher tried to work out feasible measuresand strategies to transform the students with English learning difficulty.With the help of parents, teachers and peer group, students with English learning difficulty madeobvious progress.Through the case study, the author draws a conclusion that students with English learningdifficulty can be transformed. The key is that teachers and parents should attach great importance to theirEnglish learning; Then, help them establish their self-confidence and develop their willpower, try to buildharmonious relationship between teachers and underachievers; Meanwhile, English teaching of senior highschool should be combined with that of junior school properly; Teachers should readjust the teachingdifficulty according to students’ aptitude. Finally, teachers should strengthen the guidance of studymethods and strategies for students with English learning difficulty to promote their progress.
