To cover the shortage of children’s gross motor capability evaluation that exists in currentChina, enrich the assessment tools for measuring, expand the applicable objects of measurementscale and update norm data of measurement scale, this study, on the basis of understanding thedevelopment situation of gross motor capabilities of the children aged from3years old to6yearsold, attempts to discuss and study “measurement scale for gross motor capabilities of thechildren aged from3years old to6years old” and tries to establish regional norm of thedevelopment situation of gross motor capabilities of the children aged from3years old to6yearsold in Shenyang. Meanwhile, the author compiles evaluation software based on the researchresults for the testers in everyday use. This study includes five steps: the scale design, pretest studies, formal test studies, theestablishment of norm and evaluation software compiling. The first step: through documentliterature, expert interviews and questionnaires, the author determines the structure of the scaleand the pretest project. The second step: taking60children aged from3years old to6years oldas the test objects, the author makes pretest studies, analyzes the scale item discrimination, andeliminates or modifies the scale items that are substandard. The third step: taking375childrenaged from3years old to6years old in Shenyang as the test objects, the author makes formal teststudies and analyzes the scale item discrimination while testing the reliability and validity of thescale. The fourth step: taking375children aged from3years old to6years old in Shenyang asthe norm group, the author establishes regional norm of the development level of gross motorcapabilities of the children aged from3years old to6years old in Shenyang. The fifth step: theauthor uses ASP programming language to compile evaluation software for “measurement scalefor gross motor capabilities of the children aged from3years old to6years old”.The results show that:(1) The “measurement scale for gross motor capabilities of the children aged from3yearsold to6years old” consists of three subtests, namely: balance capability subtest, displacementcapability subtest and object operation capability subtest. The scale contains a total of67testitems, including16items for the balance subtest,35items for the displacement capabilitysubtests and16items for the object operation capability subtest. Three-level scoring mode isadopted for the scale.(2) The “measurement scale for gross motor capabilities of the children aged from3years old to6years old” has good psychometric indicators, and it can make a more accurateassessment for the development situation of gross motor capabilities of the children aged from3years old to6years old. It is a kind of a more practical tool for measuring the development levelof gross motor capabilities of the children aged from3years old to6years old.(3) The development level of gross motor capabilities of the children aged from3years oldto6years old is not affected by the gender factor, but affected by the age factor. With age, children’s gross motor capabilities will be significantly enhanced.(4) Taking375children aged from3years old to6years old in Shenyang as the normsamples, the author establishes four kinds of norms: subtest standard scores and its percentiles, the quotient of the aggregate score of the subtest standard scores and its percentiles.(5) The author uses ASP programming language to compile software for “measurementscale for gross motor capabilities of the children aged from3years old to6years old” andestablishes a norm database associated with the software.
