FE occupies an important part in the whole education system of England. Besides highereducation, most teenagers must accept FE after compulsory education if they want tocontinue their education. As a teacher who is responsible for FE missions, FE teachers’professional level directly affects FE quality. Until1990s, however, previous governments allthought that owning subject knowledge teachers were able to teach in FE. Low professionallevel of FE teachers is a major factor restricting FE development, improving teachers’professional level is imperative for England government in21st century.This thesis uses country case study, documentation method, historical method,comparative method to research FE teachers’ professional policies. Firstly, it elaborates thebasic overview of FE teachers of England in the late20th century. Secondly, it analyzes NewLabor Government’s FE teachers’ professional policies in terms of background, content andimpact. Thirdly, it analyzes Coalition Government’s FE teachers’ professional policies interms of background, content and impact. Lastly, it puts forward some enlightenment of FEteachers’ professional policies.
