The inclusive higher education for the disabled in the US provides an equal educationopportunity and suitable academic adjustments and auxiliary aids and services for studentswith disabilities. The inclusive higher education for the disabled in the Unites States is highlyeffective in ensuring the disabled people’s right to education and promoting the highereducational equity. At present, the inclusive higher education for the disabled in our countryis also relatively weak, but more and more colleges and universities began to explore andpractice the incusive education for students with disabilities. This thesis will bring beneficialenlightenment and reference to the development of inclusive higher education for studentswith disabilities in China through systematically studying the inclusive higher education forthe disabled in US.Using the country special research model and literature study and comparative study asthe main research methods, This thesis briefly summarizes the historical background of thedevelopment of inclusive higher education in US, and sums up its development and process,and focuses on analyzing and researching its current situation and characteristics andexperience. This thesis includes the two main parts: introduction and text. The introductiondescribes the reasons and the purpose and significance and methods of this research study, andsummarizes and comments the previous literature of our country and foreign countries. Thetext includes five chapters. The first chapter introduces the basic concepts and the theoriesabout the inclusive higher education for the disabled in US; In the second chapter, thehistorical development of the inclusive higher education for the disabled in US is summed,and its historical background and development track are analyzed; Chapter three is the keysection of this thesis, and it face to face with the current situation of the inclusive highereducation for students with disabilities in US and systematically investigates and analyses itsorganization “school organization and personnel” and purpose and content and educationsupporting and methods; Chapter four summarizes the characteristics of the inclusive highereducation for students with disabilities in US, and the experiences and existing problems. In chapter five, based on the comparing between the achievements and the failures of the presentsituation of the inclusive higher education for the disabled in US, some advices are given todevelop the inclusive higher education for the disabled in China: establish the concept ofequal access to inclusive higher education for students with disabilities; strengthening theinclusive education teaching staff for students with disabilities; building support systemsinclusive institutions of higher education; exploring and practicing the inclusive ways forstudents with disabilities.
