How People With Different Social Value Orientation Exchange: An Experimental Study

The relationship between the structure and the actors move has been animportant aspect in sociological research. Network exchange theory has a very uniqueinsights in the explanation of power distribution in network structure. In recent years,studies of network exchange theory gradually cause the attention of scholars.However, network exchange theory focuses on the three types of structuralrelationship, however, in the reality, the actors are different, and the exchange dependson different structure.So, first, we will review the evolution of network exchange theory. Second, putSVO into the three different structures, then analyze how the different social valueorientation actors exchange in the three types of structural relationship.This paper useexperimental method, questionnaire method, first take one Harbin college students assamples to know the situation about students’ SVO, then, to study how the differentsocial value orientation actors exchange in the different structure.Results show that, first, The proportion of competitive oriented people is morethan the proportion of pro-social oriented people, the percentage of pro-social ishigher than the percentage of foreign studies of pro-social. Second, in the samestructure, different SVO has different exchange payoffs. The same SVO has almostthe same act in different structure: competitive oriented people are less cooperativeand has higher profit, pro-social oriented people are more cooperative and has lowerprofit. At the same time, pursuit equal, situation and actor’s characters, stick to thebottom line and the amount of benefits are all has an influence to the results of thenegotiations...
