Political socialization of college students has been more concerned by theChinese scholars. There are many factors that affect college students’ politicalsocialization, including individual differences, family background, peer groups andmass media, etc. In the context of the economic and cultural globalization, the era ofinformation explosion has come, the mass media has become an integral part of ourlives, for the political socialization of college students is widening.Through a sociological perspective,this article is an exploratory research andanalysis of political and social effects of mass media students, using empiricalresearch methods. Based on the questionnaire of213undergraduate students inGuizhou University for Nationalities, we use SPSS statistical software to analyze thesurvey results. Through a detailed analysis of the data, the study found that massmedia has become a key factor in the political socialization of college students; theimpact is higher than that of individual differences and family background. However,specific to the three aspects of political socialization, mass media shows a certaindegree of complexity and the effect of the Internet is the most prominent.This article is divided into three parts. The first part is an introduction,including background、literature review and the design of the study(including thedefinition, the theoretical basis, assumptions and research methods); the second partis the overall description and analysis of the basic situation of the college students’political socialization; The third part is the analysis of mass media on the threeaspects of college students’ political socialization, including the specific impact ofpolitical awareness, political values and political participation, at the end of this partwe make a comparison of the influence between the mass media and other factors;In addition to the conclusions, the article proposes some advice for the problems inthe political socialization of college students.
