The floating children leave their home with parents, live in a new city, and face thenew learning environment and living environment. They will face a lot of socialadaptation problems. The floating children in XG School are as the research object in thisstudy. We choose all the students of the fifth grade to have a questionnaire survey, andknow the basic information about peer relation of the students. Then we choose53students to have a case interview, finally we choose10floating children as members of thegroup. Their main problems are as follows: lack of self-confidence, wrong concept ofdating and strong willingness to make friends but lack of skills.The goal is to improve the team members’ problem of peer relation, we carry out theactivity called “we are all good friends”. Before the start of the group activities, accordingto the nature of the group, the characteristics of the group and the goals of the group, wechoose the growth group mode as the dominant mode to guide the whole process ofservice. The theoretical basis are the mirror I theory, group theory, social learning theoryand social support network theory. According to the period before the stage, power andcontrol stage, intimate stage, distinguish stage and ending stage, we design and conductseven group activities to improve the team members’ problems of peer relation, in order tohelp them quickly integrated into the new life. At the end of the activities, the author has asummary of evaluation with the process of group activities, the effects of group activitiesand growth group mode’ application.In a word, firstly, most members changed a lot in the problem of peer relation.Secondly, in the view of group appraisal, team members recruitment, activities design, theaction of social workers and the choice of the ways of assessment, especially the choice ofsocial worker modes play a promoting role to achieve the goal of team, and shows that itis practical and operational for growth group mode to solve the problem of peer relation.Finally, from the effect of group appraisal, the process of activity, the effect of activity andthe evaluation of the use of growth group mode have a good result, but there are still someproblems.The author hopes that through the group activities, it can be used as a practice of social work experience, and promote the innovation and development of the localizationof social work.
