With the development of society, sports aerobics have become common in collegephysical education and people’s increasing need for fitness requires for more and betterprofessionals in sports aerobics. As a result, college sports aerobics teaching has been underreform in terms of teaching method, content, facilities and teachers’ qualifications. That’swhy it is of great importance to study on the current situation of sports aerobics teaching ofcollege physical education in Zhejiang Province and its improvement suggestions.Focusing on the need of the college students majoring on the physical education forsports aerobics and their overall development, the paper is aimed to study on the currentsituation of sports aerobics teaching in college physical education by means of literature study,questionnaire investigation and statics analysis. The study results are based on theinvestigation of32teachers and320students from six universities in Zhejiang Province(Zhejiang Normal University, Hangzhou Normal University, Ningbo University,, ShaoxingUniversityand Taizhou University).(1) Teacher qualifications: Of the teachers investigated,78%are aged26to35. Teacherswith bachelor degrees take up a large part, resulting in a low level of academic titles.(2) Facilities: Teaching is undertaken indoors with simple facilities.90%of the investigatedteachers use CDs or tape recorders, paying no attention to multimedia methods.(3)Teaching aims: Professional knowledge and skills are greatly stressed. The individuals’attitude, mentality and aesthetic judgment are ignored.(4)Teaching content: Teaching focuses on basic actions and routines, paying no attention toprinciples, training methods, physical health and composing methods.(5)Teaching methods: Traditional teaching method features professor’s analyzing anddemonstrating and students’ learning while inspiring and exploring methods are ignored. (6) Evaluation system: The system focuses on scores in theory, skills, ability and regular testsrather than such factors of attitudes, mentality and social adjustment. Most of the evaluation isobjective assessment while group-assessment and self-assessment are ignored.(7) Students’ attitude: Students majoring on the physical education show a high interest insports aerobics and have clear study goals. But most of them dislike the out-of-date teachingcontent.Based on the study results, the paper aims to find out the main problems and proposereform strategies and suggestions with the consideration of development trend of sportscurriculum reform.
