Since the early years by the family environment, school experience and desire to factorssuch as education reform initiated in France, Pierre de Coubertin was determined toparticipate in education and the modern Olympic Games is a platform. Coubertin is an idealist,when he founded modern Olympic Games; he hoped that the modern Olympic Games canbecome important force of promoting the progress of the world. To this end, he has done a lotof work. He found some ideas which he needs from the ancient Greek classics, refined it andused to propaganda. For example, he believes that the ancient Olympic Games, is a kind ofmoral education; is a symbol of peace; is a noble faith; is to promote the body and mind toachieve a harmonious way; in the ancient Olympic Games, participation is more importantthan winning. That promote modern Olympic Games. But as he avoided some of the darkside,which the ancient Olympic Games have, so that the modern can not understood theancient Olympic Games at all, it not conducive to the modern Olympic Games. In one side,his understandings of the Ancient Olympic Games let concepts of "peace","focuses onparticipation","higher, faster, stronger" win support among the people. The modern OlympicGames use these as the goals, and constantly striving for perfection, have active sense. On theother hand, his understandings impact most people’s opinions of the games. Therefore, thevariety of problems which the modern Olympic Games have, also increasingly trouble thepeople who loves it. The author wants to use the knowledge and the relevant material, withthe perspective of history to re-explain the issue, hoping to inspire the people to understand itbetter.
