Vocabulary is the most important factor in language construction. Vocabulary learning is the basis of English language learning, and meanwhile, vocabulary learning is becoming the trickiest problem for most high-school English learners. The realization of multi-media teaching conditions, to some extent, can lessen the memory burden of English words. Adopting the multimedia to teach English vocabulary, teachers could make full use of the functions of pictures, texts, records, flash and vision, and therefore, more efficiently help students to establish the permanent memory of English vocabulary.To realize the purpose that the multi-media can serve the purpose of high school students’English vocabulary teaching more properly, this paper, on the basis of the former researchers’work on English vocabulary teaching assisted by the multimedia, is mainly to analyze the existing English vocabulary-teaching situation among the middle school students at home and abroad and, by means of experiment, questionnaire and talking, explore to get a more effective construction pattern with the help of multi-media in both theory and practice.The whole paper is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction to the research, mainly to point out the researching background, content, purpose and significance, and meanwhile, state the current vocabulary teaching situation with the multi-media. The second part is to specify the relevant concepts and structure about the multi-media and English vocabulary teaching, and then state the multimedia advantages and the relevant theoretical basis of this pattern. The third part is to clarify the strategic designs for the vocabulary-teaching mode with the multi-media assistance, including the designing rules and strategies like semantic visualization, specification, contextualization and pragmaticalization. The fourth part is to state the process and analyze the result of the vocabulary teaching experiment supported by the multi-media, with the purpose of testing the practical effect of the pattern and testing whether it really works in practice. At the end of the paper, the author summarized the research and brought out the expectation for the future research.
