With the deepening of reform of basic education, more and more scholars concern about the dominant teaching effect, while bent over backwards to dig up the hidden curriculum resources and carry out the study of the hidden curriculum in order to promote the effectiveness of the explicit curriculum and improve the overall quality of the high school students. The object of study of geography is the geographical environment around human. The teachers could change and create the environment easily to guide students to use the hidden curriculum resources. At the beginning of geography in junior, we should tap the invisible curriculum resources to get a better education effect. In this paper, the method of theoretical analysis and questionnaire survey were adopted to analyze the hidden curriculum of junior high school geography connotation, characteristics, and effect. The access of hidden curriculum was also extended. The main contents and conclusions:1.This article discussed the concept, characteristics and mechanism of geography hidden curriculum. The significant differences between hidden curriculum and explicit curriculum such as carrier in the form of teaching, course content, course carrier, teaching effect measurement were discovered.2.Hidden curriculum has its solid theoretical basis which is the development of Ecological system of Education theory, the implicit learning theory and anthropology of education theory.3.The result of current situation of junior high school geography hidden curriculum which analyzed from questionnaire survey and interviewing based on the affiliated high school of xi’an university of electronic science and technology. Result shows that the geography teachers and school leaders pay no attention to the geography hidden curriculum, many students lack of interest and motivation for leaning geography, the campus culture and facilities need to be improved.4. We provide five methods which including planning activities, utilizing of library, dealing with the textbooks, implementing of the hidden curriculum during class and constructing fundamental facilities of school to carry out and promote junior high school geography hidden curriculum according to the result of this survey so as to solve the problems and improve the current situation during Geography teaching.
