Singapore Swimming Club Situation And Countermeasures

Swimming is a sport that is suitable for anyone of any age or gender,it is also a practice of lifelong physical education as well as an essential life skill.Teaching people how to swim and eventually make the person masters this skill is avery meaningful thing. Therefore, countries all around the world set up many differentswimming organizations, schools and clubs so as to gain popularization and betterdevelopment in this sport. Alongside with that, people that participate in the swimmingtrainings can also choose the type of training depending on their preferences andabilities.Singapore is an urban city island with a tropical climate, thus swimming is manypeople’s favorite leisure activity. In Singapore, swimming lessons are compulsorymodules even in primary schools and schools also have their own swim teams withswimmers of different standards. The enthusiasm in constructing swimming pools bythe Singapore government; the endless formations of swim clubs; the rules andregulations formulated for swimming competitions by the sports council, all have led tothe popularization and better development in swimming. This report is an analysis of"Singapore swim clubs’ training models and countermeasures study". This is a study ofthe swim clubs in Singapore based on7selected clubs with the use of resources andtechniques such as literature and materials, questionnaire surveys, interviews, statistics,analysis, comparison and fact finding. With the understanding of the requirements of thechildren’s swimming trainings, club management of the swimming trainings, curriculumsetup for swimming, coaches, facilities and the approval of swimming by theswimmer and the parents, it shows the club’s training concepts and future development.By further analyzing, we can discover and adopt the unique strategies used and usefulexperiences from Singapore’s swim clubs, the different ways to promote better standardand quality of swimming trainings in Singapore also can be used as a reference.
